truglo red dot sights - when quality is reasonably priced

The TruGlo Red Dot is a multipurpose Red Dot that can be used for hunting and home protection. This budget-friendly solution is simple to use, suitable for beginners, efficient for home protection, and won’t break the bank. When looking for a red dot sight, the most critical factor is finding an optic that is both reliable and affordable. There aren't that many options in the $50 price range that are worth recommending. There are high-grade red dots that are rather costly, and also service-grade optics suitable for LEO units. I have plenty of TruGlo optics, one of which is placed on my home security shotgun.

Let’s dig into the details.

Rock Island Armory tactical 1911 VZ GripTru Glo 30mm Red Dot

● 11-position rheostat – This allows for a full range of adjustment from dim to bright.
● Eye relief is limitless despite where the sight is placed. The 30mm Red Dot of TruGlo is a practical and efficient red dot for general usage.
● For full light transfer, the lenses are multicoated. There's even an anti-reflective coating to prevent reflections from distorting the image.
● Both windage and elevation dials are available for adjustment.
● The 30mm Red Dot is shock-proof to 1,000 gs.
● 3v CR2032 battery is included.
● 6.9 ounces in weight.
● Auto Shut Off after 4 hours.
● A lifetime warranty is offered.

Like all Red dots, it should always be used with both eyes open. The windage and elevation knobs are fitted with protective covers that can simply be turned either direction. I installed the 30mm TruGlo on our AR-15 rifles. They function perfectly. Having a 30mm red dot of plastic rather than metal keeps costs down. The keywords for this red dot are tactical and practical.

The TruGlo 30mm Red Dot is easily mounted on any firearm with a picatinny or weaver rail mounting system. Align the mount on the rail, secure the screws with Allen wrench, and you've got a safe setup. The design specifics and simple modification make this a decent red dot sight.

A riser would not be required for most applications. It's a safe mount. We shot a lot of rounds pistol, rifle and 12 gauge buckshot. The TruGlo 30mm Red Dot held its zero. With this setup, the chance of hitting was high. The 30mm Red Dot enables fast-hitting at short to medium range with outstanding overall performance.

Tru-Tec Micro

Recently, I checked the Tru-Tech Micro Red Dot by installing it on my Ruger .22-45 Lite. Although it is effective as a low-profile, compact mount for handguns and rifles, I believe the perfect use is on handguns. The Micro combines the best sights of the Tru-Tec series in an ultra-light and compact design.  It also sports a digital brightness control, push-button and an auto-off mechanism to save battery power. The Micro Red Dot is easily mounted on standard rails. Let’s take a look at its features:

  • 3–MOA red dot reticle for quick acquisition
  • 23mm x 17mm multi-coated lens
  • Digital brightness regulation button
  • 10 settings for brightness
  • Compatible for optic-ready handguns
  • Ultra-lightweight (just over 1 oz.)
  • CNC machined from aircraft-grade aluminum
  • Maximum compatibility; (EOTech, Docter, Insight, Meopta, etc.)
  • Locking windage and elevation adaptations
  • Limitless relief of the eye
  • Picatinny rail mount
    Auto-off functionality.
  • Waterproof (sealed o-ring design)
  • Shock Proof
  • Fog Resistant
  •  3V–CR2032 Battery included

Ruger GP100

Conclusion

I like the Micro and think it provides a perfect combination between speed and precision. The main emphasis is on casual target shooting. These Red Dot sights provide first-class practicality and performance for both enjoyment and self-defense.
